Community Health Outreach

Introduction
Health and wellness are critical to the future of our community. We build healthy communities together through partnerships with local and area organizations and agencies. Fairview Red Wing Health Services first identifies community needs and issues, and then seeks to meet them. Helping mothers successfully breastfeed their babies; working with teens to promote peace within school hallways; providing men with tips to enhance healthy lifestyles; offering health screenings to prevent disease––these are just a sampling of the free or low-cost community health programs we offer that promote wellness of body, mind and spirit.

Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward: Fund for Women's Cancer

Pay It Forward was established by a breast cancer survivor to help women cancer patients struggling financially while receiving treatment. Two local families that have lost mothers to breast cancer have adopted this program to benefit the patients in the Red Wing area. The fund assists patients with the payment of necessary living expenses. It is our hope that women who receive help will someday, somehow – either financially or otherwise, find a way to "pay it forward" by helping other women during treatment.

If you are struggling with basic living expenses due to your illness, we encourage you to make a confidential contact to Pam Horlitz at Community Health Outreach and get more information. She can be reached at (651) 385-3302 or phorlit1@redwing.fairview.org. Pay it Forward’s first recipient’s water had been turned off, and because of this, Child Services was required to remove her children from the home. Her bill was paid through this fund and her children were able to stay with their mom.

If you would like to make an immediate impact on a woman’s life, contact Pam Horlitz for information on how to make a contribution.
